  • Tuckerman Ravine, commonly called "Tucks", is a glacial cirque on the side of Mt. Washington. It is famous for extreme skiing. On sunny spring weekends hundreds make the 2 mile hike into the ravine. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tuckerman_Ravine
  • In the early 1950's my Father was here one day when the wind was blowing across the Ravine. The air in the Ravine was going from clear to fogged in on a 2+ second cycle! The Ravine's air was resonating like an Organ Pipe or a person blowing across the top of an empty bottle. The air humidity must have been just at the saturation point. He also said that Dick Durrance was the first person to ski the Headwall at Tuckerman's.
