Constructed in 1908-09 to house the 'News-Advertiser', the first newspaper printed on electric press in Canada, for publisher & politician Francis Carter-Cotton. In 1923 the building was purchased by the Daily Province which occupied the building until 1960. In 1924 a bridge over the alley was constructed to connect the building with the neighbouring Edgett Building which housed the newspaper's printing presses. Designed by architect A. Arthur Cox in Edwardian neoclassical style it now has the offices and classrooms of the Vancouver Film School.
