Geauga Lake first opened in 1877 as an amusement park and was later purchased by Six Flags, becoming Six Flags Ohio, before taking over the adjacent SeaWorld Ohio to become Six Flags Worlds of Adventure. However, in 2004, the park was sold to Cedar Fair, which redeveloped the former "marine life" side as a waterpark, but closed the "amusement rides" side in 2007 before ultimately closing the waterpark too. The amusement park side has since been demolished.
