This refugee camp was created after 1975, and received the name of capital city of the former Spanish Sahara. The UNHCR has indicated that approximately between 155,000-190,000 Sahrawis are present on Algerian territory, while Algerian authorities estimate their number in 165,000, on the other side the Moroccan government estimate their number around 45,000 to 50,000.
