Sidi Ifni (Arabic: سيدي إفني) has a population of 20,000 people. The economic base of the city was fishing.
In 1476 it was occupied by Spain, which named its settlement Santa Cruz de la Mar Pequeña. In 1524 it was captured by Saadian rulers, mainly from the Ait Baamrane tribe. Following the Spanish-Moroccan War, Sidi Ifni was 1860 - 1969 part of the Spanish Sahara.
