Ranikot is a large fort in the region of the Kirthar Range, about 30 km southwest of Sann, was in the Dadu district of Sindh now in district Jamshoro, approximately 90 km north of Hyderabad in Pakistan. It is one of the largest forts in the world. It has an approximate diameter of 6 km. Its walls are on the average 6 meters high and are made of gypsum and lime cut sandstone and total circumference is about 20 km. While originally constructed for bow and arrow warfare it was later expanded to withstand firearms.

It is reputed to be the largest unexplored fort in the world. The purpose of its construction and the reason for the choice of its location are still unknown.

Ranikot is the most talismanic wonder of Sindh. Visible from five kilometers away its massive undulating walls twist and dip over the hills. With the circumference of about twenty kilometers, its walls, built with dressed sandstone and reinforced with 45 bastions along the outer wall, of which 7 are rectangular and the remaining are round. All modified through the ages to accommodate the use of gunpowder, this perhaps makes it the largest fort in the world.

But if we go through historic events & books than it will be more possible to reaserch over KOT or fort. it is believed that ALEXANDER remained in Sind (Ind)for few years 324 B.C, He defeted DARA AZAM of Persia than by the route of afghan crossed INDUS (SUNDUS) at jehlum NEEL-AB area. RAJA PORUS of HIND came to fight with Him though RAJA porus defeated but ruined the gethered force of many hundred thousdands of ALAEXANDER, there he decided to go to BABLONE but while crossing over river in MULTAN one poisoned arrow badly injured ALEXANDER. It was than managed to leave SIND (IND) by water & dry routes. Sind was not ruled by any mighty Ruler so that Ruler had that much force to fight angainst ALEXANDR's Mighty force. there fore SIND people started to fight with Him like Gorrilla type of war, every person every village came forward to fight but remained in there jurisdiction so a new head ache was created for such huge force there fore ALEXANDER decided to built on protection wall to rest the force for some time & re-arrange. so this RANI KOT WAS BUILT BY ALEXANDER IN 322- 321 B.C SARDAR TARIQ KHAN ODHO.
