This remarkable building was constructed in the 19th century in the period style of Arts & Crafts. Built for the D'Oyly Carte family this house is distinguished for its internal decoration, which is influenced by the Art Deco movement.
The gardens are notable due to the fact that its exotic plants benefit from the sheltered, moisture-rich coastal environment. The terraced gardens give out a delightful range of colour during the summer months and the woodland paths lead through a stream-fed valley to the coast and its impressive panoramic views.
