Mount Paneio (Pani)

Mountains in the north of Anavissos. Located south of Keratea and east of Kalivia. The highest mountain in the area with the highest peak Keratovouni over Keratea 650 meters high, and the second the Pani, , above Kalivia over 639 meters high. Name comes probably from the god Pan (Paneion), without having discovered sanctuary which Pan was worshiped . First mention of this name in the sources, is a letter from Bishop Michael Akominatou of Athens in the year 1205, which mentions ... the conditions of Panic (of Pan) AKRORION .... without specifying whether it is for this mountain (source: www.silia.gr/t/topon.htm)
