Doddakere Maidana was a natural lake,named as Doddakere(Large Lake), that was in use during the reign of the Wodeyars. The lake was a water source for the palace too. However, as population increased the lake turned into a barren ground. Since, it has been named as the 'Doddakere' maidana.
