Also known locally as Boot Hill Pond.

Until the digging of Aquatels and the new Gloucester Park Lake this was one of the only fishing places in this part of town.

It has had a varied history with many failed attempts to drain it by breaching the bank on the east side to try to let it drain into the stream. Thanks to valiant and heroic effots of local anglersthis never happened. Nowadays though there is hardly any angling going on here as it has become somewhat choked with weed.

It was alleged to be the pond from which the Essex Tench record was caught, decades ago.
