7,350 inhabitants.
Bannockburn is named after the Bannock Burn, a burn (small stream) running through the village before flowing into the River Forth.

Land in the vicinity of Bannockburn village, probably between the Pelstream and Bannock burns (streams) was the site of the Battle of Bannockburn fought in 1314 - one of the pivotal battles of the 13th/14th century Wars of Independence between Scotland and England.
There is also a weird bridge over the burn here, with a big circular whole in the middle, designed by Scottish architect/stonemason/civil engineer Thomas Telford.

Currently there are about 8,000 people in the area, which is now, thanks to urban sprawl, merely considered part of the City of Stirling.
