Small but important museum, famous for its collection of Mycenaean terracotta sarcophagi, many of which are painted with scenes depicting otherwise unknown Mycenaean rituals. It also displays several cases of cylinder seals from all over the classical world, which help to explain who was trading what with whom when and where. The outside courtyard features many colorful mosaics, mostly from the early Christian era.
The museum is located right next to the remains of an old defensive tower, which dates to "modern" times -- the 13th century AD.
The last time I checked the museum was closed for renovations, so call to confirm when they are open. --grecodan
