  • Yes, this is where the James Brown statue is located. He stands on top of a stage-shaped pedestal which was added after the statue itself. In typical Augusta political fashion, the issue of the pedestal was the subject of much local debate. Some thought it would place him too high, others thought it was not high enough - truly a worthwhile discussion. Meanwhile, the rest of downtown is still full of abandoned buildings and potholes.
