Located in the center of Aiken is Hitchcock Woods, the largest urban forest in the United States. This 2000 acre preserve is open to pedestrian and equestrian recreation alike. The Woods offer visitors the natural beauty and quiet solitude of a unique southern forest located in the midst of an urban area. Maintenance of the trails, jumps, bridges, signs, map boxes, as well as protection and management of the natural resources in the Woods, are all directed by the trustees of the Hitchcock Foundation, who serve in the same spirit as the founding trustees.
Hitchcock Woods is dependent upon the private support of those who value and enjoy this unique resource.
