Gunupudi (Heart of Bhimavaram) (Bhimavaram)

This is one of the major places in Bhimavaram. Sri AADHI LAKSHMI AMMAVARU is the Godess of this area and is said to be 300 Years old.

Sri UMA SOMESHWARA JANARDHANA SWAMY temple is located here. It is one of the PANCHARAMA KSHETRAS of LORD Shiva called SOMARAMAM.
Highlights of this temple are:
1)IT is 1000 Years old.
2)The Shiva Lingam here Changes it's colour on FULL and NEW Moon days as it represents MOON God.
3)There is a POND opposite to this temple and is called as CHANDRA PUSHKARINI as it is created by MOON GOD. The other name of this pond is SOMAGUNDAM.
4)Godess Annapurna is situated on the top of the Shiva Lingam in the 1st floor of the temple and this type of construction is not found any where in INDIA. As usually Godess Parvathi temple is Situated beside Lord Shiva.
5)There are FIVE (5)NANDI statues opposite to Shiva Lingam. Normally in any Shiva temple there would be only 1 or 2 Nandis.
6)Lord Janardhana, Hanuman, Surya, Kumaraswamy, Navagrahas temples are located here.

Gunupudi was graded as Panchayati in 1926 and the 1st President was Sri. Nandamuri Brahmanandam and it is included in BHIMAVARAM in 1948 as BHIMAVARAM merged as Municipality in this year. Sri. Gandam Ranganaidu was the 1st Municipal Chairmen.
Sri MAVULLAMMA is the Godess of BHIMAVARAM.

Nandamuri, Nallam, Yeluri, Yamijala, Varanasi, Parimi, Yerramsetti, Gunupudi, Nachu are some of the Major Families in Gunupudi.
