Sangola is a town and a municipal council in Solapur district in the Indian state of Maharashtra. Traditionally, in many historic records this area comes under "Maandesh" region. The name is derived from "Maan" river. This place is famous for Pomegranate production.
Sangola has the second oldest municipality in Maharashtra established in the year 1857. Once upon a time it used to be called as "Sangole Sonyache" meaning "Sangola with abundance of gold". Legend goes that the town was named after six "Ingole" abodes which went on to become known as "Saha Ingole" or Sangole. Presently the town has one of the finest cotton spinning mill which was awarded best spinning mill for few years. The place is totally agro based. It produces best seedless grapes,and pomegranates. Its cash crop being the sugar cane. On auspicious day of Rath Saptami Goddess Ambika Devi Yatra starts where farmers from entire district come to sell and buy best bull for breeding and farming.-------By Sagar Kale(9561609535)

    The Above text was edited by S.S.Dnyanmote.,who hails from Sangole.He studied at Sangole Vidya Mandir High School from 1952 till 1956.Joined DAV college Solapur to persue studies in branch of commeerce.He had to leave college midway since he was one out 450 students to come first in Indian Air Force Selection Examination.He left college in September 1957 to Join Indian Air Force Training Centre at Bangalore.He completed 21 years of meritorius and very illustrasius and adventurous career in IAF.During his tenure in IAF he had seen wars of 1962,1965 and 1971.He has travelled length and breadth of India several times over.Presently he works with Air Deccan As an Avionics Engineer.September this year ( i.e.2007 ) he completes 50 years in aviation.
