A community created by the author Wallace Kaufman in the 1970's. He built his house in the northern lot of the community by hand. He wrote "Coming Out of the Woods: The Solitary Life of a Maverick Naturalist" about the development of Saralyn and the building of his house.

  • yes it is still here, and I live beside his first cabin, it is Heaven here to me and to the new Owner's of his personal home (the Risks whom which i rent from) live in it beside me. It is within the town of Pittsboro, NC and those of us who live here still carry on the love of nature and wildlife he first instituted into heart of this Community. I actually have questions for Wallace if he reads this, it is regarding an area off of Saralynn... to the left of the road before meeting Quartz. There is a relic of a ruin there, looks to be crumbling from ash and decay. May sound strange but i was pulled to that area from the moment i came here... Wallace I sent you a linkin request, i hope i hear from you i have a few questions regarding it, not about purchase, it is about the history of that certain area. Cindy
