Cachambi is a neighborhood of the northern zone of Rio de Janeiro, middle-class, with high HDI (0900). It's estimated population in the year of 2000 was 41,334 inhabitants. Has area of 225.02 hectares. In this neighborhood, is located "Norte Shopping", the largest shopping center of the city; hypermarkets such as Carrefour - Norte Shopping, Wal Mart, Sam's Club, and a Leroy Merlin. It is close to the João Havelange Olympic Stadium (Know as Engenhão), located in the neighbouring district, Engenho de Dentro.

  • Just another place that's growing in a messy way because the government doesn't really care about it. It's practical since it's close to downtown and Tijuca and it's geminated to Méier, plus it has the most active shopping mall in LA iirc, but it's not a really interesting/pretty place.
