The USS Hull was the 12th member of the Forrest Sherman Class of Destroyers and served with the US Pacific Fleet from 1958 to 1983. During her service she saw action in the Cuban Missile Crisis and deployed to Vietnam 6 times in support of Naval & Ground forces.

From 1974-1980 the Hull carried a experimental 8-inch rapid fire gun, then being considered for installation on Spruance Class Destroyers. However the program was cancelled and the gun was eventually removed and replaced with a standard 5-inch gun.

Following her decommissioning she was placed into the Suisun Bay Reserve Fleet until April 7th, 1998 when she was sunk as a target at this location in 2,096 fathoms.
