God's Love We Deliver at Northern Dispensary

USA / New Jersey / Hoboken / Waverly Place, 165
 interesting place, historical building

3-story Neo-Georgian medical clinic building completed in 1831 as a 2-story structure. The third floor was added in 1954, topped by a metal dentiled cornice. The building, occupying a triangular site, has chamfered corners and is clad in orange brick.

The Northern Dispensary was founded by local citizens to provide health care for the poor of the area. In 1960 it became a dental clinic, which in 1986 refused to treat a patient who was HIV-positive. He sued and bankrupted the clinic. The building briefly served as the Hostel for the Disabled in 1997, but has remained vacant since 1998 while owned by William Gottlieb Real Estate.
