  • An old traders road went from Tawang via Milakatong La to Bum La and finally to Tsona Dzong. Survey of India has it correct, i.e. this is the correct Bum La.
  • This is BumLa, where one of the fiercest battle took place in the '62 War - as per Indian Army's information. This road come in from a bifurcation about 14 kms above tawang, on way to Sangestar Tso (or Madhuri lake, if you prefer). Visit by civilian tourist of India is permissible with permission from the Indian Army. Very treacherous track, only SUVs (preferably gypsy) advisable. And that too on clear weather, with no snowfall or rainfall nearby!! Visit this place to place a pebble on the Heap of Stones - to remind yourself of the Mighty Himalayas as our Guardian of Northern Frontier - and those who mans them - Jai Hind...
