  Built upon Napoleons request to guard the ancient city of durbovnik - which was during its peak on par with Venice when comparing Shipping transaction. The fort now houses a large radio antena and is opened at all times of the year for visitors. During Croatia's struggles against Serb and Montonegran forces in the early 90's fort Imperial was used by Croatian freedom fighters as the last line of defence. Evidence of fighting is still very clear and i urge all to take a quick trip to Fort Imperial, if only for the views it presents
