Brezoi

Brezoi is a little town which is situate in the middle of Carpathians, near the junction of Olt with Lotru river.

Short history
First attestation of this settlement is from 16th century (1549) in Brasov city archives, when a comerciant sold in Brezoi few skins.
In 1873 Carol Novac (a Czech man) built here the first timber factory from Brezoi and the second from entire country.
During the Independence War (1877-1878) peoples from Brezoi and surrounding villages provide a lot of food for Romanian soldiers and also made the timber necessary for building the bridge between Romania and Bulgaria.
In February 1968 the settlement became a town.
