  • The first reservoir at Streatham Hill was constructed by the Lambeth Waterworks company in 1832. There have been various subsequent expansions of the reservoir. The reservoir has always been covered, and in aerial photos appears as open space becaause of the grass now growing on top. The reservoir is surrounded by a brick wall topped with broken glass to prevent intruders. The internal structure of the reservoir consists of transverse walls made of double brick arches forming "O" shapes. During a rare emptying of the reservoir for maintenance, the local MP, Keith Hill - whose home is very close nearby - was admitted for a photo opportunity inside the structure.
