Rabbit island was recently purchased by two veterinarians from Canmore, Alberta (March, 2008). They will use it to provide some freedom for dogs that they rescued from the hurricane Katrina disaster and cannot be placed in foster homes.

The previous owners, Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, California, had acquired it as a donation to the college's School of Sailing and Seamanship by yachtsman Henry Wheeler in 2002

  • The veterinarians that bought Rabbit Island are not from Canmore, AB; they're from Calgary, AB. I know because one of the veterinarians is my uncle!!!!!
