  • woah! thats great... i hope u ar still alive and reading this, cos am a product of lanlate earth station. my father worked for nitel and i lived in the quarters till i grew up. its really a nice enviroment to me its that quaters is the only paradise have lived in eva since i was born cos there was so much peace there, we enjoyed nature, no competition and people love and treat one another like family knowing i cannot get such an environment like that. and as for the question u asked concerning the station its still very much there but abandoned now, it was abandoned as soon as there was the transformation from analog to digital. rather than the government converting it to a digital station it was abandoned to rot and decay with its propties and all the equiptement there. what a wasteful government. Now am 32 years of age too. You can reach me on okunlolatunde63@gmail.com cos i wld like to hear frm u how it looked like in the 70s.
  • I went to Lanlate Earth station in 1991 to do some work. Stayed there for 2 weeks and really enjoyed my time there. Use to go to the clubhouse in the evening for a few beers and play snooker. Sorry to hear that it is abandoned.
  • How I wish the abandoned dish is converted and upgraded into a Radio Telescope..NASRDA-Centre for Basic Space Science, Nsukka being the only approved centre for Astronomy in Nigeria can bring the world to the feet of the historic town of Lanlate.......Ghana has just commissioned their converted 32m dish into the first Largest radio telescope in Africa....... If only ways can be paved towards Lanlate's ......I see the world coming back to lanlate.....I'm sure the King, Senator, Chairman covering the LGA can make this happen.....but the question is will they even understand the Glory that could still be found in the great City of Lanlate, Oyo State?.........if you know this ppl and u can get their attention, I would help find FG attention....towards a greater course. If you ever could help....I am Olu....email me at akinjoshua15@gmail.com

  • In am working on Effects of Geomorphic Landforms on GSM Network and Call Transitions, I believe the Lanlate Earth Station should have been the springboard of the various BTS manning the rocks in Lanlate and environs. Yet there has been a spiral down effect on the teledensity ratio the area which ultimately affect call loss and call transitions in the area.
