conference centre, exhibition centre
The new iconic landmark of CERN is a sphere 40 m in diameter made entirely of wood. It is open to the public and hosts exhibitions, conferences, debates, film showings, and other events. The globe was built at Neuchâtel for the 2002 Swiss National Exhibition (Expo.02) then disassembled and rebuilt here in time for CERN's 50th anniversary.
