The main city of the french department of Savoie with population of 61.ooo citizens (2005 year), 9 km south from the Bourget lake, in picturesque valley, surrounded by mountains. The university city, also having its own aeroport, 270 metres above the sea. The regional nature parks, Massif de Bauges and La Chartreuse, are not so far from Chambery.
