The main attraction is the branching of the river Spree, accentuated by the construction of canals, and its storks, which nest here in the summer. High population of Lower Sorbs, an indigenous slavic tribe near the Polish border. Known for its 'Spreewald Gherkins', commonly nostalgically associated with the former GDR.
