Zielona Góra (German: Grünberg in Schlesien) is a city with 118,115 inhabitants (2007). Situated in Lubusz Voivodeship, it is the seat of the voivodeship's elected assembly (sejmik) and executive (the seat of the centrally-appointed governor or voivode being Gorzów Wielkopolski). Its name, in both Polish and German, means "green mountain". Zielona Góra is one of two places in Poland where wine grapes are grown, and has a long history of winemaking. An annual Wine Festival is held here since 1852.
