Härnösand Cathedral (Härnösand)

Sweden / Vasternorrland / Harnosand / Härnösand

Härnösand Cathedral is the smallest catheral church in Sweden. The current building was completed in 1846; it replaced an earlier eighteenth century church, which in turn replaced a stone church from the sixteenth century burnt down by Russian troops. The interior is notable for fine seventeenth century furniture, including a lovely baroque organ facade, which stands in front of a fine organ from the same period. Guided tours of the cathedral are available if arranged in advance. The cathedral is a venue for concerts.
