This is the largest medieval church in the whole of Northern Sweden. Built in the late fifteenth century, it was consecrated in 1492. Perhaps the most intersting sight for the visitor are the interior decorations. The late medieval frescoes are of the school of Albertus Pictor. The church is richly furnished and has a fine sixteenth century altarpiece, made in Antwerp. It is the venue for musical concerts.
The whitewashed bell tower was built in 1851 and replaced an older wooden bell tower to the north-west of the churchyard at the highest point of the hill.
