Notes: The Congress Hotel's biggest claim to fame is being the location of bank robber John Dillinger's capture by police. Dillinger and three of his associates were staying at the hotel under assumed names in January of 1934 when a fire broke out in the building. The fire destroyed the third story of the hotel (which was never rebuilt) and resulted in the men's capture. The Cup Cafe, inside of Hotel Congress, was featured in Season 2 Episode 17 of the Food Network Series "$40 a Day" with Rachael Ray, which aired September 24, 2003.
