  • Sadly, the description is true, I live here and I don't like it. But it IS still Naples, and it IS still safer than Fort Myers or Bonita Springs & Immokalee City.
  • The transformation of the area since the 1980's is beyond all belief. What once was a quaint, comfortable community for retirees has morphed into a depressing slum of illegal immigrants, criminals and the dregs of human society. Most of the reported (and unreported) crime in Collier County now takes place here. This is one of the saddest declines in a long list for Florida as the state is swamped (no pun intended) by seemingly never ending waves of lower class people.
  • This place wasn't so bad. Its not as bad as people make it out to be, totally safe and the city continues to beautify it. Its a fine place to live with plenty of shopping and dinning within walking distance.
  • Golden Gate is where the service industry lives. If you eat a green pepper, build a house, it comes from Golden Gate, or the people thereof. If you think you have seen crime, move to Miami. We don't lock our doors here, out in the country. It is rare, crime, petty crime is anywhere. Yes, there was growth, but when the economy tanked, there are bargains here now.
  • It's obvious that this description was entered four or five years old. The part about "Ever increasing home-values" and "Collier County being one of the hottest counties right now in the entire country" with regard to real estate is hilarious.
  • I just visited my old neighborhood in golden Gate that I moved away from 20 years ago. I almost threw up at was once a beautiful working class area into a ghetto that looked like criminals invaded. Naples should be ashamed that this was allowed to happen
  • I am thinking of purchasing a home south of golden gate parkway on Sapphire lake...I am not from the area...any advice?
