This bridge is a memorial to the famous lawyer Clarence Darrow. He died of a heart attack at his near-by home. His ashes are scattered in the lagoon that the bridge crosses. Darrow was a strong non-believer in the paranormal, so as a joke, he told people to look for his ghost here after his death. His ghost has never been seen.

    This was originally the North Pond Bridge, built ca. 1888 and one of the few structures in Jackson Park left intact during the building of the 1893 Columbian Exposition as well as subsequent park development.
