Cold War 1947-1991, closed / former military, historic landmark, United States Air Force, early warning radar
The second production AN/FPS-24 antenna (one of 12 total, the first being at Point Arena AFS), it was a long range radar antenna used for range and bearing detection. It needed a height-finder radar to complete the range of information used. Most of these antennas were shut down once satellites started being used for the same thing. It is now listed on the Santa Clara County Heritage Resource Inventory and protected from demolition.
