My first visit to this delightful town was during 1944 as a member of the 51st Highland Division. I recently came here during May 2008 hoping to locate a farm where, during 1944, a farmer informed me that there was a German soldier hiding in his barn who wanted to surrender but was scared that the British would shoot him. After some persuasion he did eventually surrender. This location was south of the village on the right hand side of the road. Does any Dutch family member recall this event?
