An unincorporated community roughly coterminous with the zip code 29355, with a population of 801 at the 2000 census. Settled in the early 19th century when Captain Martin Kinard, Jr. moved to the area and acquired most of the land directly to the northwest. As a wealthy planter, he was instrumental in bringing the Laurens Railroad through the area in 1854. The town became known as Kinards Turnout in 1856 and changed to Kinards in 1881.
