The Praça da Sé (Sé Square) is a public square in São Paulo, considered the center of town because is the point from which the lengths of all roads that cross São Paulo are counted. Regarded almost as a synonym for the old center, the square is one of the best known areas of the city, and was the location of many historic events in São Paulo's history, most notably during the Diretas Já movement. The name originates from the episcopal see of the city, the São Paulo Cathedral.
