The Boca Chica Channel, which runs between the south shore of the 'Peninsula de las Playas' and the north shore of 'Isla de La Roqueta', provides a natural shelter for the Caleta, Caletilla, and Roqueta beaches - making them ideal for less experienced swimmers and families with small children. During daylight hours, it's often abuzz with water-taxis and tour-boats which depart from the point between Playas Caleta and Caletilla, near Mágico Mundo Marino.

The channel extends in an east-west direction for just over a mile (about 2 kilometers) - and between the mainland and the island, north-south, slightly more than half-a-mile (1 kilometer) from Playa Caleta to Playa La Roqueta. At its narrowest point, the channel is less than 1000 feet wide (only 300 meters).

The WikiMedia link below offers a wonderful snapshot of the Channel, looking from east to west. Mágico Mundo Marino can be seen in the bottom-righthand corner of the image - with Playa Caletilla just beyond; and on the island, center-left, one can see the private beach club 'El Palao' (west of Playa la Roqueta, which isn't shown).
