Opened in 1955, Acapulco's present-day bullring - known as both the Plaza de Toros and Plaza Caletilla - has a capacity of about 15,000 and is located just a short walk from the beaches of Caleta and Caletilla. It's also convenient for those who choose to arrive via public bus ... on the far side of a one-way looped street just behind the old jai alai frontón - where Acapulco's main boulevard (La Costera Miguel Alemán) comes to an end.

The sports venue is seasonal, however, and 'corridas' (pronounced > koh-REE-dahs, short for 'bullfights') are usually held from January through March, although some years they begin at the end of December and/or may extend into April; and they start promptly at 5:30 on Sunday afternoons (only).

Tickets can be obtained at several locations throughout the city [inquire at your hotel] or at the on-site box office ... right up until the time of the fight. Cost varies, depending on seat selection: general admission is said to be 50 pesos (about US$4) per adult - reserved seats cost between 150 and 400 pesos (US$12-$33), based on seat-location and whether one opts for 'sombra' (shady) or 'sol' (sunny) - with sombra being the more expensive of the two.
