Designed by Charles Atwood of D. H. Burnham & Company and completed in May 1896, the Ellicott Square Building is a 10-story office building which at the time of its completion was the largest office building in the world, a title it retained until 1908.

Built in an Italian Renaissance style, the exterior of the Ellicott Square Building is made of granite, iron and terra cotta with a veneer of pearl gray brick. The majestic interior courtyard contains a 23 million piece marble mosaic floor designed by William Winthrop Kent and James A. Johnson.

Used as a filming location for The Natural, the building's lobby is frequently used for social events, private parties and political rallies to this day while the building continues to function as multi-tenant office space.
