For planning before construction of a waterway Iron Gates I accumulate, the stretch-Milanovic Greben built a dam to stop water, so as not to run to the right side, but on the contrary, water is pushed and be get deep enough to left side navigation reserved. After the dam Greben-Milanovic, observing that the right Sviniţei not get sufficient depth of water was 1,500 m long channel with a width of 60 m and a depth of 2 m, the excavation of rock on bottom of the riverbed. The work required to break the 13,236 m3 of rock and lasted from 1895-1898.
