Emenating from the intersection of 12th & Jackson is an area of the International District commonly known as Little Saigon.

As the name suggests its heart of Seattle's Vietnamese community. There are also several businesses representing other SE Asian countries in the area.

White Center, which borders Seattle to the south, also has several Vietnamese business along 16th Ave S.

In the early-mid 20th Century 12th & Jackson was the heart of the Jazz Scene in Seattle. It has a vibrant African-American community, as featured in the movie "Ray" and the book 'Jackson Street After Hours'.
