Among the most revered landmarks of Indianapolis is Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the oldest Catholic parish in Indianapolis (and the former pro-cathedral), standing since 1871 in the heart of the downtown business district. Founded in 1837 largely by immigrants from Ireland, St. John still serves old and young, those from office and home, visitors and residents—all worshipping in an atmosphere of beauty, peace and security. Visitors are always welcome at St. John, where Heritage and Hope meet.
