AT&T Topanga Ridge Tower

This general area is commonly known at Top of Topanga. Iy is a former microwave relay site built by Bell/AT&T during the Cold War. Its purpose was to ensure the survivability of government/military communications after a nuclear attack The building is built to withstand a nearby nuclear blast. Note the microwave tower on the S/W corner. This was part of the federal government's continuity of operations/continuity of government (COG). See long-lines.net

  • This site wasn't built as a Cold War bunker. It was built in the 70s to re-route phone traffic to the airport microwave site due to tall buildings blocking the paths from downtown.
