This electrical substation steps down from 765,000 volts to 345,000 volts before feeding to the Chicago metropolitan area and as well to the midwestern states. This is the westernmost 765,000-volt transmission and substation in the US (which is also shared by the American Electric Power Co. power grid). The other Commonwealth Edison 765,000-volt substation is in Wilton Center, Illinois (which distributes electricity from Indiana, Ohio, Virginia, Pennsylvania, etc.)
