Historic regional rail station opened 1889 served by both Amtrak and the Connecticut DOT's Shore Line East. Located on the Northeast Corridor, the busiest railway in the United States, it was designed in 1885 by noted American architect Henry Hobson Richardson, the last of many railroad stations he designed before his death in 1887. Like most along the the Connecticut Coast, the station was originally built for the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad and Central Vermont Railroad.
