Bundu Tuhan is a Dusun Community located at the foothills of Mt. Kinabalu in the district of Ranau, Sabah and has a population of about 3, 000 people. Bundu Tuhan has a sizeable Native Reserve of about 1, 263 hectares. Approximately 60% of the Native Reserve has been set aside by the community as the village forest reserve area. The villagers only carry out their agricultural activities only in the areas set aside as 'village area'. Within the forest area, orang kampung Bundu Tuhan have drawn up zones for different land use (water catchments, no take zones, multiple use zones and community use zones where only certain activities are permitted) and each zone there are rules governing use. Each household has a copy of the management plan and the associated rules established by the community.
