Silchar Government Girls Higher Secondary School. This is the oldest girls school of Silchar. It was established by Miss Evance - a dedicated missionary lady in the last decade of nineteenth century. This school was taken over by the British government to set up temporary hospital during first and second world war. After Miss Evance, Miss Lloyd was the second lady who took over the charge of this school and developed it as a good school. The first Indian Head Mistress of the school was Miss Monica Choudhury. It is one the Examination Center of the R.K.Degree College.
